About AIV

Industrial experience first. Drones second.

Altitude Insight Vision was started by Gavin Thompson, who has spent his career in heavy industry across Western Australia: refractories, alumina, minerals processing, cement and the plants that support them.

He has been the client on enough shutdowns, inspections and capital projects to know what a site actually needs from a contractor: turn up prepared, follow the rules, stay out of the way of production, and hand over something useful. AIV was built to do exactly that with a drone.

AIV is owner-operated. The person you speak to is the person who plans the job, flies it and writes the report.

Credentials and compliance

Licensed, insured and flown by the book

CASA Remote Pilot Licence

Every flight is conducted by a CASA licensed remote pilot under CASA regulations and standard operating conditions.

Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate

AROC held, so we can operate and communicate correctly in and around controlled airspace when a job calls for it.

Airspace assessed every flight

Professional airspace intelligence and flight planning tools are used to assess airspace and obtain the required authorisations before every job. No flight in unauthorised or unsafe airspace.

Insured

Public liability and professional indemnity insurance held and current before every job. Certificates of currency are supplied with the quote or on request for contractor onboarding.

Survey-grade equipment

Mapping aircraft with a mechanical shutter camera and RTK positioning for repeatable vantage points and measurable accuracy. Radiometric thermal sensor for thermal surveys, and small FPV aircraft for interior flythroughs.

Perth-based, WA wide

Based in Perth and servicing the Kwinana industrial strip, the metro area and regional Western Australia by arrangement. ABN 37 471 987 358.

Safety

Safety takes priority over schedule and commercial outcomes.

That line is in our safety policy and it is how jobs are run. Every operation is planned and risk assessed, and the remote pilot has final authority to delay, stop or decline any flight on safety grounds.

We fit in with your site. Induction first, hazards and exclusion zones agreed with your site contact, and non-essential people kept clear of the operating area.

Before every flight

  • Airspace assessed and authorisations obtained for the location
  • Job safety analysis completed for the site and the task
  • Site induction completed and site-specific hazards recorded
  • Weather and site conditions checked against limits
  • Exclusion zone set and site personnel briefed
  • Aircraft, batteries, firmware and return-to-home checked
  • Emergency landing areas identified
  • Insurance and documentation current

Safety management system, JSA and risk assessment documents available to your HSE team on request.
