Services / Thermal imaging and scanning

Find the fault while it is still just heat.

Radiometric thermal inspection of roofs, cladding, electrical, solar and process equipment for preventative maintenance and early fault detection.

Why fly it

Heat is the earliest warning most assets give you.

A failing connection, a wet section of roof insulation, a bypassing steam trap or a dead solar string all show up as a temperature difference long before they show up as an outage, a leak or a lost month of generation. A thermal survey finds them in one pass, from the air, without isolating anything.

Every thermal frame is captured alongside a visual frame at the same moment, so the anomaly is located exactly and there is no argument about what was seen.

What we scan
  • Roofs, cladding and insulation for moisture and heat loss
  • Switchyards, transformers and overhead connections
  • Solar arrays for hot cells, failed strings and soiling
  • Kiln, dryer and vessel shells for refractory and insulation condition
  • Pipework, steam lines and traps
  • Storage tanks for product level and sludge
  • Flare and stack structures
  • Motors, drives and conveyors under load
What you get

A deliverable, not a folder of photos

Thermal and visual pairs

Every anomaly delivered as a radiometric thermal image beside the matching visual image, with temperatures and location.

Anomaly register

A list of every thermal anomaly found, where it is and what the images show, in a format your maintenance system can take. Your engineers decide the action.

Full radiometric data

The raw thermal files so your engineers can re-analyse temperatures and emissivity themselves.

Repeat survey comparison

On recurring surveys, a side-by-side of this pass against the last so trends are obvious.

Typical jobs

Where this earns its keep

  • Annual switchyard and electrical thermal survey
  • Solar array performance check after installation or before warranty expiry
  • Roof moisture survey before a re-roof decision
  • Kiln and vessel shell scans during a campaign
  • Insulation and heat loss audit across a plant
  • Post-repair verification that a hot spot is gone
Common questions

When is the best time to scan?

Electrical and process equipment under normal load, and roofs in the evening after a warm day so wet insulation stands out. We plan the flight around the asset.

How accurate are the temperatures?

Radiometric sensors give calibrated readings. We report emissivity and conditions with every image so the numbers can be trusted and repeated.

Can you scan inside a plant?

Yes for open structures and large sheds where the aircraft can be flown safely. Confined or congested areas are assessed case by case.

What do you need from us?

Site induction, a site contact on the day and an idea of which assets matter most. Load data or drawings help but are not essential.
